Total consulting that enriches society
- Q.What is the business of Asia Air Survey?
- A.‘As intimated by our company name, Asia Air Survey, our company was originally established to provide aerial surveys. Our current three core businesses are the survey business using the experience and technologies accumulated over many years, the consulting business that covers a wide range of fields including the prevention of disasters and environments, and the information management technologies linking these fields.’ (Mr. Yoichi Numata)
Asia Air Survey Co., Ltd., was established in 1949 immediately after the end of the war by engineers wishing to use the advanced technology of aerial surveys for post-war land rehabilitation. Our major clients are mainly the government and municipal offices. The company has a close relationship with public works agencies and executes not only surveys and investigations but also consistent comprehensive consulting services from planning to design. Asia Air Survey is a land information consultant supporting the development businesses with abundant and highly accurate databases and advanced technologies for utilizing data for analyses and simulations.
Quality of aerial photographs depends on the capability of monitors.
- Q.What is the reason you decided to introduce the MultiSync LCD2690WUXi?
A.If aerial photography of a wide area is required, separate images taken in several times will be combined. Since weather and sunlight conditions may vary with the time and position when releasing the shutter, the brightness and colour tone must be unified in order to secure the specific quality as a single aerial photograph. In the ordinary method, skilled experts manually adjusted the photographs taken on film. With digitalization, the colour tones of high-resolution aerial photographs taken with a digital mapping camera (Intergraph's Z/I Imaging DMC)can be unified with image processing software. However, the automated process has certain limits, and manual adjustment to confirm the images on the monitor is still required.
These operations cannot be executed on a single PC, so many monitors and PCs are used. Various kinds of monitors from different manufacturers are now used by the company due to the differences in the time of implementation. The displayed colour tones may vary depending on the monitor. To provide high quality aerial photographs, a high-resolution monitor capable of reproducing colour tones exactly is essential. ‘The availability of the colour matching system was one of the reasons that we chose this monitor. Of course, we must set up the operational environment in the company, but there is still the possibility that the vivid picture displayed in our environment will not display as vividly in the customer’s environment and vice versa. Everybody can judge the quality of photographs and rating of the same photograph may vary with each person. We must set certain criteria to be applied commonly. It is easier for us to satisfy clients by indicating fixed reliable criteria and explaining that we adjust the photograph quality in accordance with the criteria.’ (Mr. Tomowo Ohga)
Another significant reason that we chose the MultiSync LCD2690WUXi is its capability to express a wider colour gamut. We take photographs of nature, and these photographs contain a lot of green. It is very difficult for the ordinary monitor to express the green colour tone exactly. It is said that the quality of photographs can be improved drastically by providing vivid green colour in photographs.
The ‘Craftsmen’ highly appreciate the monitor and expect further expansion of utilities on various occasions.
- Q.What is your impression of the MultiSync LCD2690WUXi after introducing it?
-
A.A conclusive factor in choosing the monitor was the reputation of my friends who setup their own companies. Among many manufacturers who have established brand images, NEC’s MultiSync LCD2690WUXi is rated extremely high. The fact that the monitor is suitable for producing videos and high-resolution still pictures is highly appreciated by the craftsmen adhering to the capability for high quality expression.
‘It is an advantageous element for the MultiSync LCD2690WUXi that multiple units of the monitor can be used as a single monitor by aligning them in both the vertical and horizontal directions. Since many photographs taken with an aerial camera are in portrait mode, we set two of the monitors in portrait mode to make an almost regular square. In exhibitions, three or more monitors may be aligned to display images. The size of 25.5 inches is optimum for our current working environment.’ (Mr. Tomowo Ohga)
