Easy Connection

Easy Connection is a method of installing a wireless screen transmission function without the use of IP addresses or other troublesome network settings.

1. Requirements

The following requirements are must be satisfied to operate Easy Connection.

Optional wireless LAN cards (SWL-2100N-NU / NE / NF) must be used with both the personal computer and the projector.
The operating system (OS) of the personal computer must be Windows 2000 or Windows XP. (In the case of other OS, the Easy Connection button of the Image Express Utility will appear gray and cannot be selected.)
The current or a later version of NEC Projector User Supportware must be installed on the personal computer.

2. Limitations

Screen transmission via Easy Connection has the following limitations.

Screen transmission of one personal computer to one projector.
Only Image Express Utility (which captures the screen of the personal computer and transmits it) can be used. Easy Connection cannot be used with Image Utility.
Cannot be used in infrastructure mode. (Internally, it operates in ad hoc mode.)

3. Setting Method

3-1. Using "Easy Connection" for the First Time

  1. Install the wireless LAN card driver/utility on the personal computer.
  2. Using this download file, install the NEC Projector User Supportware on the personal computer.
  3. Insert the wireless LAN card in the projector and set "IP Address" to "Automatic", and "Subnet Mask" to "255.255.255.0".
    ( "Advanced Menu" → "Projector Options" → "LAN Mode" → "IP Address" )
    * These are the default settings when shipped from the factory.
  4. Set the projector "Mode" to "Easy Connection".
    ( "Advanced Menu" → "Projector Options" → "LAN Mode" → "Network Type" )
  5. Insert the wireless LAN card in the personal computer, start Image Express Utility, and select "Easy Connection".

3-2. When using "Easy Connection" the Second Time and After

  1. Insert the wireless LAN card in the projector and set "IP Address" to "Automatic", and "Subnet Mask" to "255.255.255.0".
    ("Advanced Menu"→"Projector Options"→"LAN Mode" →"IP Address")
    * These are the default settings when shipped from the factory.
  2. Set the projector "Mode" to "Easy Connection".
    ("Advanced Menu" → "Projector Options" → "LAN Mode" → "Network Type")
  3. Insert the wireless LAN card in the personal computer, start Image Express Utility, and select "Easy Connection".

Notes

Trying to connect using "Easy Connection" might result in an error at the first connection if:

After uninstalling/re-installing the driver / utility included with the optional wireless LAN card ( SWL-2100N ) and starting the Image Express Utility. After changing "Operating Mode" from "Ad Hoc" or "802.11 Ad Hoc" to "Infrastructure" and "Obtain an IP Address automatically" on the driver/utility included with the optional wireless LAN card (SWL-2100N) and starting the Image Express Utility.

Should this happen, restart the Image Express Utility and use "Easy Connect" to establish a connection.
